Did Win Save Norv Turner's Job?

Even after a win, Chargers coach faces questions of job security

Norv Turner woke up Friday with his job, perhaps to the chagrin of some fans, as San Diego pulled out a win against the Kansas City Chiefs Thursday night 31 -13.

Although nothing but rumors has hinted at the contrary, San Diego Chargers fans believed the head coach's future with the team was on thin ice after disappointing losses to the Broncos and the Browns.

On Friday, Turner was still pressed with questions about his job security when he met with reporters to discuss a win.

When asked if the team “didn’t get the win” he was going to lose his job, Turner questioned the source of those rumors.

“If someone says something on the radio or TV or an interview, it becomes fact. Sometimes it’s facts and sometimes it isn’t. That wasn’t my concern going into the game,” he said.

As for the win "saving" his job, Tuner said, “I don’t think that was the case. Obviously there’s no evidence to say that it was.”

“That was not the issue for me.”

Chargers now turn their attention to Tampa as they strive to better their mid-season 4-4 record.
