Miami Beach Police are investigating after $400,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a safe inside New York Giants defensive tackle Shaun Rogers' room at the Fontainebleau Hotel.
A woman is accused of taking the jewelry, which includes a pair of diamond earrings and gold jewelry, police said. Rogers reported the items missing Monday after a night out on South Beach, according to a police report.
According to the report, Rogers and some friends went to party at LIV, where they met the woman, who came back to his hotel room.
Rogers fell asleep, and when he woke up, the woman was gone and he couldn't get into the room's safe, the report said.
When he was finally able to get it open with the help of hotel security, most of his valuables were missing, the report said.
Among the items missing were a $100,000 watch and the earrings, also valued at $100,000, the report said.
Rogers missed last season after developing a blood clot in his leg following a preseason game. He had been signed as a free agent in April.
Rogers has played with Detroit, Cleveland and New Orleans, recording 602 tackles, 37 and a half sacks, 27 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries and an interception return for a touchdown. He has also blocked 14 field-goal attempts.
