The New Jersey Jets may finally be about to get their man.
According to sources close to the deal, the trade could involve as many as 15 players and possibly be finalized within the next few days.
Though the pieces are still moving, the ESPN report says that the Nets would get Anthony and Denver guard Chauncey Billups along with guard Rip Hamiliton from the Detroit Pistons. Denver would receive two first round picks, plus Nets' guard Devin Harris, forward Derrick Favors and Anthony Marrow. They would also get Quinton Ross, Ben Uzoh and Stephen Graham from New Jersey.
Detroit would pick up Johan Petro and the expiring contract of Troy Murphy from the Nets.
This would mark the second time that the Nets have been close to acquiring Anthony, who has been a star in the league since being drafted out of Syracuse in 2003. In September of last year, a four-team deal involving Denver, New Jersey, Utah and Charlotte came close to going through, but the Nuggets pulled out at the last minute.
The deal would be a coup for the Nets and owners Mikhail Prokhorov and Jay-Z. The team plans to move into a new arena in Anthony's native Brooklyn in 2012 and have been looking for a franchise player since missing out on LeBron James last summer.
