Merriman Just Loves Stingaree

Merriman spotted at Stingaree on Friday, TMZ reports

Maybe Shawne Merriman should tackle more and party less.

The Chargers star had a sorry Sunday on the field -- just days after being spotted at Stingaree nightclub, the same club he and recent-ex Tila Tequila partied at prior to a headline-grabbing he-said/she-said spat.

The celeb news Web site TMZ.com is reporting that Merriman was seen Friday night at downtown's Stingaree, less than two weeks since an incident at his Poway home.

San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis declined to file charges against Merriman in the wake of accusations by the reality TV star that he choked her.

Merriman was arrested early on Sept. 6 after Tequila accused him of choking and throwing her while she was at the San Diego Chargers player's suburban San Diego home. Tequila signed a citizen's arrest warrant accusing Merriman of battery and false imprisonment.

The Chargers star said he was trying to prevent her from leaving because she was drunk but he didn't harm her. Tequila's attorney called the linebacker's explanation of an alleged altercation with the reality star that led to his arrest "spin." Attorney Alan S. Gutman said Merriman's public comments that he was trying to protect Tequila amount to another attack on his client.

On Sunday at Qualcomm, Merriman's performance in the game against the Ravens was lackluster. For the day, he had only a single tackle, and that was an assist.
