Carlsbad native Lauren Fendrick began her professional beach volleyball career in 2003 after playing indoor volleyball in Puerto Rico and Turkey. Fendrick nearly qualified for the one of two U.S. quota spots for the 2012 Olympics but was ranked third at the qualification cut-off date. In 2014, Fendrick partnered with Brooke Sweat. The pair won silver at the 2015 NORCECA Continental Tour Final, their first event together after a three-month break.
