Kennedy, Headley Pace Padres in Colorado

Ian Kennedy struck out nine in seven innings of work Monday night at Colorado. Kennedy struck out five of the last six batters he faced en route to his seventh win of the season.

The Padres bats came alive at Coors Field. Three doubles in the sixth inning gave the Friars the lead for good. Chase Headley added two more RBI in the seventh on a triple to right field. He finished with four hits on the night.

After a weather delay of nearly an hour Kennedy did not return to the game. Kevin Quackenbush and Tim Stauffer each pitched an inning to secure the 6-1 win.
