The Indianapolis Colts might have had some trouble working on their defensive game plan for Sunday night's game against the Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium.

Eight defensive players missed practice Wednesday because of injuries. It's tough to practice with eight players soaking in hot tubs in the training room. The Colt's list includes All Pro safety Bob Sanders. In all, nine Colts sat out practice, including receiver Roy Hall, who has a knee injury.

The Chargers had four players sit out. In addition, late on Wednesday, second year receiver Buster Davis -- last year's top draft pick -- was placed on injured reserve because of a groin injury. Tackle Corey Clark was signed off the practice squad to take Davis' roster spot. Davis had only four catches this season after catching 22 his rookie year. He's one reason why the Chargers have struggled.
Defensive End Luis Castillo missed practice with a groin injury, and Cletis Gordon is still having trouble with a knee injury he suffered two weeks ago against the Chiefs. Gordon had started the game in place of Antonio Cromartie, who has struggled this year with a hip injury. Cromartie has only two interceptions so far this season after leading the league last year with 10. Three of those pickoffs came against Colts quarterback Peyton Manning in the Chargers 23-21 win over the Colts last November. The Chargers picked off Manning six times that night. Cromartie wasn't available for comment. Instead he was busy getting treatment after practice.
Finally, nose guard Jamal Williams sat out Wednesday to rest his knees, something he has done often this season.
