Injured Starting Pitcher Continues on the Road to Recovery

If all goes well Stauffer will get a rehab start in Lake Elsinore on Sunday with the Storm

Padres batting practice was interrupted by Tim Stauffer pitching a simulated game.

With Manager Bud Black nodding approval from near the on deck circle, Stauffer who started the regular season on the disabled list with an elbow injury, threw well.

The time table for his return depends on how he feels tomorrow and again Thursday after he throws in the bullpen.

If all goes well Stauffer will get a rehab start in Lake Elsinore on Sunday with the Storm.

Among those who batted against Stauffer was Carlos Quentin. The time table on his return from having work done on his knee is still a week to ten days.

Black saying Quentin still needs to work on running full speed on the bases and the outfield to make sure the knee is sound.

The Padres were off to a 5-12 start and host the 12-4 Nationals Tuesday night at Petco Park.
