In the Home Stretch: Padres Make Moves

The Padres open the regular season two weeks from Sunday when they host the Dodgers on Sunday Night Baseball.

The Padres Cactus League record dropped to 6-10 with three ties after losing to Kansas City Sunday 9-6 in ten innings.

Among the Padres highlights was a fifth inning solo home run by Yonder Alonso.

Meanwhile, the Padres continued to make roster moves.

They optioned right-handed pitcher Burch Smith to Triple-A El Paso.

In addition, the club reassigned C Cody Decker and INF Cory Spangenberg to minor league camp.

Sunday’s moves leave 43 active players in big league camp.

The Padres host the Colorado Rockies Monday at 1:05 p.m.
