Headley Hammers Diamondbacks

Chase Headley's grand slam paced Padres in 8-2 win over Arizona.

Three Padres batters reached the seats. Chris Denorfia homered in the sixth inning to give the Padres a 3-1 lead. The Friars blew the game open with a five run seventh. With the bases loaded Headley hit a no-doubter over the right field fence for RBI's 99, 100, 101 and 102. His 102 RBI total now leads all National League batters.

Before Padres fans had time to get back in their seats Carlos Quentin put another ball in the bleachers, his 16th in an injury shortened season.

Lost in all the long-ball was the pitching of Werner. He pitched into the seventh inning allowing just four hits, striking out six.

The Padresnine game home stand continues Monday. The St. Louis Cardinals come to Petco Park for a three game series.
