Game Day for Green Machine

It’s game day for the Park View Little Leaguers, who have enjoyed the week so far in Williamsport, Pa.

The kids from Chula Vista play their opener Saturday night in the Little League World Series against a team from Russellville, Ky.

Park View posted a 6-0 record in the Western Regional to become the ninth San Diego County team to reach the Little League World Series and the first since the Rancho Buena Vista All-Stars in 2005.

Fans will gather at various venues on Saturday to watch the telecast live on ESPN2, beginning at 5 p.m.

Park View scored five runs in the fifth inning to break open a tie game and defeated a team from Northern California Sunday night 11-4 to qualify for the World Series.

Park View is scheduled to continue Little League World Series play this Sunday against the Peabody Western Little League All-Stars of Peabody, Mass., the New England Regional champion.

Park View's final pool play game is set for Tuesday against the McAllister Park American Little League All-Stars of San Antonio, Texas, the Southwest Regional champion.

The winner of the four-team pool will advance to the U.S. semifinals, scheduled for Wednesday. The U.S. championship is set for Aug. 29, a day before the championship game against the international champion.
