Former Padre Marcus Giles’ wife made a citizen’s arrest Wednesday, alleging domestic battery, El Cajon police said.

CHP officers called police officers to Giles’ and his wife’s car, which was pulled over on Interstate 8 at Greenfield Drive at 3:20 a.m.

The former Padre’s wife told police she was making a citizen’s arrest. Giles was taken into custody on charges of domestic battery on a spouse, police said.

Police said Giles’ wife was not hurt and was being questioned by El Cajon Police.

Giles played for the Padres in 2007. The second baseman’s brother, Brian Giles, was sued by an ex-girlfriend and then countersued on allegations of abuse in 2008.
