Eight Is Enough for Padres

The Braves shutout the Padres 2-0 to end their eight game winning streak.

The Braves got all the runs they would need in the first inning. Chipper Jones doubled off of Padres starter Andrew Werner to drive in Martin Prado. The score would remain 1-0 until the fifth inning.

In the fifth Dan Uggla cracked a solo homer off of Werner, his 1,000th career hit, to give the Braves a 2-0 lead.

Medlen struck out nine Padres in the eight innings he pitched. Medlen has not given up a run in over 28 innings. The last was on August 11th against the Mets.

The two teams play the rubber game of the series on Wednesday afternoon.
