Dodgers Suffer Loss To Starting Rotation

Hyun-jin Ryu shut down due to shoulder tightness

Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke are the unquestioned aces of the Dodgers pitching staff. But, they have a pretty good 3rd amigo in the rotation.

Hyun-jin Ryu has won 14 games each of the last two seasons. He was the Opening Night starter for Los Angeles last year when Kershaw and Greinke were out with injuries. But, the Dodgers are shutting him down because of tightness in his left (pitching) shoulder.

Ryu missed time with the same kind of problem last year and says this time the discomfort is not as severe, but L.A. is not taking any chances. They're already considered the possibility of putting him on the disabled list to start the season.

if that happens he would miss the season-opening series against the Padres at Dodger Stadium, leaving manager Don Mattingly options including Erik Bedard, Joe Wieland, Mike Bolsinger and Carlos Frias (not exactly the same quality).
