After Friday night’s little disagreement at Petco Park, Major League Baseball decided to suspend Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts for one game after a physical altercation with Padres Manager Andy Green.
So Roberts missed out on seeing his team get another lopsided win over San Diego.
The Dodgers hit three home runs, including their second grand slam of the series, in an 8-0 blowout on Saturday in the East Village.
The Padres gave Dillon Overton, just called up from El Paso, his first start with his new team. It did not last long. Overton allowed four runs in 4.2 innings to take the loss. Two of those runs came on solo homers by Corey Seager and Justin Turner, who went back-to-back in the 5th inning.
Los Angeles put it completely out of reach in the 7th inning when Chris Taylor hit a 4-run homer off Padres reliever Craig Stammen to make it 8-0. The Padres were not going to dig out of that hole against L.A. starter Rich Hill, who struck out 11 batters in 7.0 shutout innings and gave up just four hits (two of those to rookie outfielder Manny Margot).
The Dodgers try to sweep the series on Sunday afternoon when Kenta Maeda takes the hill against Jhoulys Chacin.
