Dodgers Keep Slim Playoff Hopes Alive

Matt Kemp drove in four runs as the Dodgers beat the Padres 8-2.

Normally an inning chewer, Padres starter Clayton Richard couldn't get out of the fourth inning. He gave up six runs on ten hits for his 13th loss of the season.

Matt Kemp provided all the offense the Dodgers would need. He singled and scored in the first inning, doubled in the second scoring two and added a two run homer in the sixth, his 20th of the year. At Petco Park this year Kemp is hitting .407 with seven homers.

Padres third-baseman Chase Headley had  run scoring single in the sixth to improve his RBI total on the year to 109, just one behind NL leader Ryan Braun, who had two RBI's in the Brewer's win at Cincinnati.

The rubber match of the three game series is Thursday.
