A clay court will be built on top of the grass field, adjacent to the stadium’s left field wall.

It’s official - the Davis Cup will be held at Petco Park in San Diego’s East Village early next year.

The formal announcement was made Tuesday marking the dates – January 31 through February 2. The final day just happens to be Super Bowl Sunday.

It will be the first time the Davis Cup is played in an open air baseball stadium.

A clay court will be built on top of the grass field, adjacent to the stadium’s left field wall.

The U.S. will host a team from Great Britain led by Andy Murray.

The layout will seat about 8,000 fans and could prove to be a successful one for the U.S. team.
When playing Davis Cup matches in San Diego, the Americans are 6-0.
