Police searched Tuesday without success for an armed suspect who fled on foot after a police chase came to an end at a South Bay mall.

The chase started in the 500 block of Sipes Circle in Chula Vista after the driver failed to yield. Police said the low-speed chase came to an end shortly after 3 p.m. near Plaza Bonita in National City.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken into custody, but a second suspect ran into the marsh area, west of the mall. Chula Vista police said that suspect was believed to be armed.

The marsh is a heavily wooded area between the mall and the nearby Interstate 5 freeway.
