The Chargers play the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. Here's a look at three players who will have an impact on the final score.
1) Nick Novak. Not a real big stretch here, I know. With Nate Kaeding injured, Novak takes over the job he almost won in the pre-season. Nick is no stranger to the Chargers. After Kaeding went down in the 2011 season opener, Novak came on and made 27 of his 34 kicks with a long of 53 yards. The Chiefs and Chargers like to play close games at Arrowhead. Five of their last 10 meetings there were decided by three points or less.
2) Jackie Battle: He spent 5 seasons in Kansas City, so he can add some valuable insights. He's also the Chargers leading rusher and the only San Diego running back to score a touchdown on the ground. Norv Turner said Ryan Mathews fumbling problems would limit him in certain situations, so expect Battle to see more action.
3) Kendall Reyes. The rookie has been solid, and against the Chiefs and their top-ranked rushing offense he'll have to be even better. Jamaal Charles leads an attack that averages 197 yards a game on the ground. Charles is young, athletic and fast. So is Reyes. If Kendall can help keep Charles from getting around the end, the Chargers will have a chance to contain him.
