Chargers vs. Chiefs: Inactive List

Who won't play in Sunday's season opener

The inactives list for Sunday's season opener between the Chargers and Chiefs is out. The early advantage goes to San Diego because Kansas City is missing some big-time talent.

We already knew that linebacker Justin Houston was out. Joining him on the sidelines at Arrowhead Stadium are Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles and wide receiver De'Anthony Thomas, who is one of the most dangerous returners in the game.

Also inactive for KC will be quarterback Tyler Bray, cornerbacks KeiVarae Russell and Kenneth Acker, offensive lineman Bryan Witzmann and defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches.

Compare that to the Chargers, who have all their starters available. The Bolts are sitting wideout Isaiah Burse, offensive linemen Tyreek Burwell, Max Tuerk and Kenny Wiggins, defensive lineman Ryan Carrethers, safety Adrian Phillips and newly-acquired running back Andre Williams.

That leaves them with seven offensive linemen available, leaving Chris Hairston and undrafted rookie Spencer Pulley as the reserves. Two players the Bolts claimed off waivers just one week ago, cornerback Pierre Desir and defensive tackle Caraun Reid, only got one week of practice with their new team but they will be suited up.
