Chargers Lose Ugly in Preseason Finale

It wasn't pretty, but nobody got hurt in the Chargers 35-3 preseason loss in San Francisco.

Rivers was 8 for 10 and threw for 89-yards including that interception in one quarter of work. Backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst struggled behind the makeshift offensive line. He was only 5 of 15 for 63 yards.

The two first half turnovers resulted in touchdowns for San Francisco. The Niners backup quarterbacks played well. Colin Kaepernick threw two touchdown passes. So did Josh Johnson. In addition to the pair of touchdown passes the former USD quarterback rushed for 50-yards.

Defensively the Chargers had trouble stopping both the run and pass. The Niners rushed for over 150-yards and threw for upwards of 300-yards.

Friday all NFL teams must trim their roster from 75 players to 53. The Chargers have some very difficult decisions to make on both sides of the ball.

The Chargers open the regular season on September 10th at Oakland.
