Chargers Lose Another Running Back

Bolts place Farrow on IR, now down to 6th RB

The Chargers have been changing running backs like Taylor Swift changes boyfriends. And we aren’t even going to get a hit record out of it.

On Monday they put yet another runner on injured reserve. Kenneth Farrow is the latest Bolts back to have his season cut short due to an ailment.

Farrow hurt his shoulder in Sunday’s 20-17 loss to the Browns in Cleveland. He also missed part of training camp with a shoulder injury. Farrow had become the starter after Melvin Gordon suffered knee and hip injuries in a loss to the Panthers in Carolina.

Gordon has missed the last two games and is officially listed as day-to-day but the odds of him playing the season finale on New Year’s Day against the Chiefs at Qualcomm Stadium are slim. The Chargers now have just two healthy running backs, former San Diego State star Ronnie Hillman and rookie Derek Watt, on the roster.

Andre Williams might be elevated from the practice squad to take Farrow’s spot.

The Chargers how have four running backs on IR:

Branden Oliver, Achilles
Danny Woodhead, ACL
Dexter McCluster, Forearm
Kenneth Farrow, Shoulder

Add Gordon and they are will have to start their 6th-string running back (Hillman) in their final game of the year. It is unfair to compare anyone to LaDainian Tomlinson but it is worth noting that in his nine years in San Diego L.T. only missed three games.
