When Ryan Mathews was born, he and his mother lived in their car in Riverside. After living on the street, Ryan's mother sold her car and moved to Tehachapi, CA to live with her grandmother at the ripe age of 16. This was the turning point of their lives. From there the Mathews moved to Bakersfield, where Ryan met his close friend Dante, who after some bumps in his own road was eventually adopted by Ryan's mother Tricia.
Ryan became the leading rusher at West High School and eventually earned a scholarship to Fresno State. Tricia moved with him to Fresno and has never missed a single one of her son's football games home or away.
Mathews has gone from (pardon the pun) Rags to Riches. He went from living in his car to replacing his idol Ladanian Tomlinson on his favorite football team. It can only get better from here.
