Chargers Fall Just Short in Green Bay

Late comeback not completed in 27-20 loss

There were a lot of things going against the Chargers on Sunday in Green Bay. The Bolts had lost three straight road games, scoring less than 20 points in each, while the Packers had won 12 straight games at Lambeau Field and their starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers, was 48-10 in his career there.

The Bolts made it a lot closer than most people though they would but another crippling injury led to a 27-20 loss in Wisconsin.

Don't put this one on Philip Rivers, though. The Chargers QB got no help from the running game (Melvin Gordon left with a foot injury) and against one of the top-3 pass rushes in the NFL still threw for 503 yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers.

Rivers hit Keenan Allen 14 times for 157 yards but when Allen left the game with a hip injury the San Diego defense stalled.

That gave Rodgers the cushion he needed. The All-Pro QB threw for 255 yards and two scores with no turnovers.

But the Bolts had a chance to win. Rivers led them to the three yard line with four shots at the end zone. Two running plays, both inside handoffs to Danny Woodhead, and a pair of incomplete passes with less than a minute to play spelled the end.

The Chargers fall to 2-4 on the season while the Packers are a perfect 6-0.
