Chargers Cut a Quarterback

Bolts now possibly in the market to draft a new QB

The Chargers will likely be looking for a quarterback at the end of April, either through the Draft of an undrafted free agent.

San Diego waived QB Brad Sorensen on Wednesday. Sorensen was taken in the 7th round in 2013, the first player from Southern Utah ever taken in the NFL Draft. He spent time with the Chargers the last three seasons and was with the Titans for a short time 2014. Sorensen has never appeared in a regular season NFL game.

The Bolts now have Philip Rivers, Kellen Clemens and Bryn Renner on the roster. They did recently have a meeting with Memphis QB Paxton Lynch after his pro day but it’s unlikely they’d take him with the 3rd overall pick or that he’d last until their second round selection.

It’s more likely the team will select a developmental signal caller in the later rounds or sign one in the free agency period and have him sit and learn from Philip Rivers for a few years.
