Chargers Convadium Drawings Are On The Way

Look of new stadium/convention center plan to be revealed soon

One of the glaring omissions from the Downtown San Diego convadium proposal the Chargers made public a week ago was photos. Voters are going to want to know what this thing looks like.

Will it be stacked on top of a convention center? Will the stadium and convention center sit side-by-side? By the end of April we will have an answer.

Sources close to the situation say the Chargers plan on revealing at least part of their architectural plans close to the time they can start gathering signatures for their citizen’s initiative, meaning we’ll get to see some pictures of at least the outside of the convadium somewhere around April 21.

The Bolts would like to have an endorsement from San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer at least a week prior to unveiling their designs but he has yet to tip his hand. It’s expected the Mayor will give soft support either in favor of or against the Chargers’ initiative, keeping as close to the middle as possible.

It is possible they will release the designs that weekend, either Saturday the 23rd or Sunday the 24th. That week is also a big day for the guys on the field. On Monday the 18th the Chargers start their first round of Organized Team Activities (OTA) at their Murphy Canyon training facility.
