Chargers player Antwan Applewhite was arrested Friday on suspicion of DUI according to San Diego police.
Applewhite was driving near Grand and Gresham in Pacific Beach around 2:20 a.m. Friday when he was stopped by a San Diego police officer.
The officer conducted a DUI evaluation and ended up transporting Applewhite downtown. He was booked at 4:09 a.m. and posted bail shortly after 10 a.m.
A woman riding with Applewhite was not detained and was transported home by police officers.
Applewhite is scheduled to be arraigned June 17 at 8:30 a.m., police said.
The outside linebacker, who first signed with the Chargers in 2008, also played for San Diego State University.
The Chargers released the following statement Friday afternoon:
"It's disappointing to hear about the issue involving Antwan Applewhite. We'll continue to monitor the situation and let the legal process run its course."
