Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal hit his 10th homer of the season Friday night in St. Louis.

Padres starter Tyson Ross got in trouble early. After giving up a pair of first inning runs the Padres ace settled in, but the damage was done. Ross (11-11) went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits.

Lance Lynn (13-8) pitched well for the Cardinals. Like Ross, he went six innings to collect his 13th win of the season.

Yasmani Grandal hit a home run in the ninth inning, his tenth of the season.

The Padres lost 4-2. After winning five straight the Friars have dropped their last two.
