Merriman to End Holdout: ESPN

Linebacker does not confirm report in Twitter post

After nearly two weeks of holding out, Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman is reportedly ready to join his teammates in training camp.

Citing league sources, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday afternoon that Merriman will sign his $3.239 million tender and report to Chargers Park this weekend. The Pro Bowler and restricted free agent had been holding out for the promise of not being traded from the team at any point this season.

The granting of that no-trade request was not cited in the report as having occurred.

Rather, according to his league sources, Schefter reported Merriman is returning because he "misses his teammates and the work too much to stay away any longer."

Merriman has since provided comment via Twitter.

"All reports of me reporting to camp this weekend would come from the team 'San Diego Chargers' not 'sources,' " Merriman tweeted.

Chargers.com has yet to post any report of Merriman ending his holdout.

Should Merriman return, left tackle Marcus McNeill and wide receiver Vincent Jackson would remain as the only Chargers in holdout. McNeill and Jackson are seeking new contracts from the team.
