Aztecs Regain Winning Ways

San Diego State football ends a 2 game losing streak with a 28-7 win at Hawaii. The Aztecs are now 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the Mountain West Conference.

     San Diego State ended a 2 game losing streak with a 28-7 victory against Hawaii in Oahu.  Aztec running back Rashaad Penny led the Aztec attack with a career high 253 yards rushing. 

With the victory San Diego State improves to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the Mountain West Conference.

This was San Diego State's first win since October 8th. The Aztecs lost back to back to games the last 2 weeks to Boise State and Fresno State, after starting the season 6-0.

The Aztecs opened the scoring in the 1st quarter with a Juwan Washington 1 yard touchdown run.  Then followed that up with 2nd quarter TD pass from Christian Chapman to Mikah Holder to lead 14-0.

After Hawaii cut the lead to 14-7 at halftime, the second half belonged to Penny.  Penny had a 1 yard touchdown run and a 63 yard touchdown run, he finished with 253 yards on 30 carries.

San Diego State dominated on both sides of the ball.  While the Aztecs offense piled up 418 total yards, the SDSU defense held Hawaii to just 195 total yards (160 yds. passing and 35 yds. rushing).

San Diego State's next game is also on the road, the Aztecs play at San Jose State on Saturday, November 4th.
