A Sweep of St. Louis

The Padres beat St. Loius 3-2 to complete their first home sweep of the Cardinals in 17 years.

If the Cardinals miss the post season they can partially blame the Padres. St. Louis has now lost eleven of their last fifteen after being swept out of San Diego.

The Padres jumped out to an early lead. Logan Forsythe homered off losing pitcher Kyle Lohse (14-3)  in the second to give the Friars a 1-0 lead.

Up 2-0 in the sixth, Richard (13-12) threw one of the few pitches he would like to have back. With one on Matt Carpenter put one deep into the right field seats to tie the game at two.

The game didn't stay tied for long. After a double by Chase Headley, Yasmani Grandal singled him home to give the Padres a 3-2 lead.

Luke Gregerson pitched the ninth to record his 7th save of the season.

The Padres have now won seven of their last eight and six of their last seven series. Their 10-game home stand continues Friday against the Rockies.
