SAN FRANCISCO - DECEMBER 12: Nate Clements #22 of the San Francisco 49ers celebrates after an interception against the Seattle Seahawks during an NFL game at Candlestick Park on December 12, 2010 in San Francisco, California.(Photo by Jed Jacobsohn/Getty Images) *** Local Caption *** Nate Clements
Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was denied his opportunity to become the Seahawks’ franchise all-time winningest QB. Instead, he dropped a four-interception flame-out at Candlestick, one of those a pick-six to Dashon Goldson and another in the Seahawks’ end zone to Nate Clements on Seattle’s next drive.
But the star performer of the day was the guy who nobody but Singletary would have started, the now debatably-good again Alex Smith. Alex threw for three touchdowns and 255 yards, the most yards he’s ever had in a game which the Niners actually won.
In a game that was 30-7 49ers at halftime, plenty of Niners were given an early afternoon off. They’ll need the rest, as the 49ers need need need a win on a short week Thursday night in San Diego.
