The Padres final game in L.A. looked a lot like their first game. The Friars fail to split the series as they fall to the Dodgers 10-2 in their final game in L.A.
Jered Weaver made his opening debut for the Padres. The Northridge California native just came off of eleven seasons with the Angels as he took the mound for the first time decked out in Friars attire.
It wasn’t an ideal start for Weaver but let’s call it first time jitters. In five innings he gave up five hits, four runs and two homers.
The two homers came off the bat of Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig. Puig hit a two run homer in the top of the second scoring Chase Utley. He was just getting warmed up because in the top of the fourth he did it again; a two run homer driving in Joc Peterson to give the Dodgers an early 4-0 lead on the Padres. This marked three homeruns for Puig so far this season.
Despite the rocky start for the Padres, there was a light in the sixth inning, and his name is Wil Myers. Myers hit a two run homerun off of Brandon McCarthy to help put the Padres on the board and to cut the Dodgers lead in half.
That would be the extent for the padres scoring on the day though. With a 10-2 victory the Dodgers took the series 3-1.
There are still 158 games left in the season though, so there is no need to turn on the Padres panic monitors just yet, especially with young players like Hunter Renfro on the team. The 25 year old didn’t drive in any runs but the potential was there. He had three hits in four at bats including a double in the top of the ninth inning.

The Padres will head back to San Diego where they will host the Giants in their home opener on Friday; first pitch is at 3:40 PM.
