NBC 7 Political Reporter Gene Cubbison this weekend will revive "Politically Speaking", his weekly public affairs program, to cover the fall election cycle.
The first of nine editions will air Sunday, September 9, at 9 a.m. on NBC 7 and will feature guest interviews, debates, political analysis, commentary, political news and features from around San Diego and beyond.
"Politically Speaking" will air every subsequent Sunday in that time slot, following NBC's "Meet the Press", through November 10, when the Nov. 6 election results will be analyzed.
We’ll be posting the show’s segments on our election page, so check back here to stay informed before you hit the voting booths this November.
Here are a few of Gene's favorite "Politically Speaking" episodes from the June primary election cycle:
- After defecting from the GOP in late March, former Mayoral Candidate Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher defended his reputation and stood by his decision.
- A vocal opponent of the Plaza de Panama plan to make over Balboa Park challenged the plan's main financial supporter.
- At a time when the big-four mayoral candidates were battling agressively for votes in the June primary, Gene discussed the drama with two leading political analysts.
Gene will be seeking feedback from viewers and social media followers via NBC San Diego's Facebook and Twitter platforms, and airing it on the closing "Sounding Board" segment of "Politically Speaking".
