'Most Powerful' Person You Don't Know Leaves Mayor's Office

    Major Jerry Sanders' chief of staff has been named president of the Downtown San Diego Partnership.

    Sanders said Tuesday that Michell, who the voiceofsandiego.org called "the most powerful person you know nothing about" earlier this year, was being replaced by Julie Dubick.

    "I have the utmost respect for Kris," Sanders said in a news release issued Tuesday. "She played a major role in everything my administration has accomplished, from implementing the strong mayor form of government and reducing the city's structural budget deficit to creating a new pension system.”

    Michell, too, had glowing words for her former boss: "It has been an honor to serve the mayor. He is a man of unquestioned character who has worked with great persistence to reform city government and restore trust in city government. "
