Gov-elect Jerry Brown wanted a dog, but his wife wasn't going along with the idea.

At least that was the case until Valentine's Day.

Anne Gust Brown told the Sacramento Bee that the couple put the issue to rest and agreed that Sutter, the corgi they've been watching for the governor's sister Kathleen Brown, would in fact be the official "first dog."

Nothing is official these days until it's on Facebook and Sutter's announcement is no exception.

He changed his status effective 9:50 p.m. and listed himself as a "sniffer, eater, licker and smile-maker."
