Barack Obama to Stump for Barbara Boxer at Fundraiser

Los Angeles visit by president suggests Boxer starting to worry

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina's latest bout of psychedelia -- an ad featuring Senator Barbara Boxer as a blimp -- may have become a cause for concern among Democrats.

Not for Fiorina's mental health, but for fear that Fiorina or her Republican senate primary opponents, former Congressman Tom Campbell or State Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, might actually post a threat to the incumbent.

The results from the latest Field Poll couldn't have helped -- they show Boxer a virtual dead heat with Campbell in a head-to-head race.

The worry is real enough that President Barack Obama will be making a West Coast swing to Los Angeles next month to attend a fundraiser for Boxer.

Democrats are still smarting from the loss in Massachusetts, where Scott "I Drive a Truck" Brown unseated the Democratic incumbent and moved the Dems away from a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

Further losses could weaken Obama's hand in congress as he continues his push for health care reform, which all of the Republican candidates in California oppose.

Jackson West does not drive a truck.
