Vladimir Putin Slams Turkey for Downing Russian Jet During Press Conference

Vladimir Putin slammed Turkey during his annual press conference in Moscow on Thursday, saying there was no prospect of improving relations between the two countries after the downing of a Russian jet, NBC News reported.

Putin criticized Turkey for its handling of the incident last month and referred to it as “a hostile act.”

The Russian president also said he supported John Kerry’s Syrian peace initiative, but said it must be up to the Syrian people to decide how to end the country’s civil war.

Putin refused to answer a question about the identity of his daughters, who were born in the 1980s in Germany when he was working for the KGB spy agency. He said they live in Russia and "live their own life and do it with dignity." The whereabouts and identities of the women have never been confirmed by the Kremlin.
