Pacific Northwest Pounded by Recordbreaking Rainfall

An already soaked Pacific Northwest is expected to get more rain into Wednesday morning, NBC News reported. 

The National Weather service warned that the heavy rain fall could cause flooding and landslides. Several regions in Washington state already experienced heavy flooding and Cowlitz County declared an emergency and officials reported a landslide in Kalama, Washington, that knocked a home off its foundation. One person was rescued from the residence and was transported to hospital.

December is already a record breaking month for the area. On Sunday, the Portland area receive 3.2 inches — a record, according to the National Weather Service. Portland typically sees five-and-a-half inches during the entire month of December.
