Minnesota Student Suspended Over ‘Sarcastic' Online Post Reaches Settlement

The attorney of a former Minnesota high school student says he’s reached a settlement over a social media post he called sarcastic, NBC News reported.

Reid Sagehorn sued and settled for $425,000, according to his attorney. The student, how a freshman in college, was suspended last year for replying to an online question about whether the then 17-year-old “made out” with a teacher with the answer “actually, yeah.”

Sagehorn was threatened with expulsion and forced to transfer schools months before graduation, his lawyer said.

He admitted the post was a mistake and tried to apologize to the teacher, but he was suspended for violating school policy.
