Hudson Line Trains Resume After Metro-North Derailment

The service is resuming days ahead of schedule

Metro-North service resumed nearly its entire regular Hudson Line service Wednesday morning, three days after the train derailment that killed four people and injured more than 60 others.

The service between Yonkers and Grand Central Terminal resumed days ahead of schedule. Some trains were canceled or combined for the Wednesday morning commute.

The section where the train crashed, at Spuyten Duyvil in the Bronx, has three tracks: the middle track was badly damaged, and the outer track, closest to the river, was destroyed, according to officials. Crews will continue to rebuild the two damaged tracks while service resumes on a single track.

As a result of the limited track capacity along the one-mile segment, six morning peaks trains Wednesday will be combined into three. All customers should expect possible 10- to 15-minute delays on the Hudson Line.
