Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden started his trip home this morning along with his father, Vice President Joe Biden, following a "successful" medical procedure at a Houston cancer center.
The Bidens arrived on Air Force Two at New Castle County airport in Delaware around 3:15 p.m. and were back home in Greenville by 4:00 p.m.
Earlier in the day, the VP's eldest son gave a quick wave as he and his family left the cancer center on their way to the airport.
About an hour later he tweeted a photo of himself with his wife Hallie, the Vice President and Beau's mother Dr. Jill Biden.
Beau Biden underwent a medical procedure at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center on Tuesday. It came more than two weeks after emergency dispatchers were called to the vice president's Delaware home, where his son was staying, in response to a report of a possible stroke. And about a week after the younger Biden felt ill while on a family vacation in Indiana.
"You put the pieces together and say, OK, it went from finding something to needing a diagnostic procedure," said NBC News Chief Medical Correspondent Nancy Snyderman Thursday morning.
Snyderman said that sources familiar with Biden's condition said that he underwent a complicated biopsy and that it could take days for the pathology to be studied under a microscope.

"They are looking for tissue, once you see something on a CT scan that shouldn't be there, it's called a mass." Snyderman said. "It's taking up room. You have to figure out what it is."
A mass isn't necessarily cancerous and can be anything ranging from an aneurysm to a hemorrhage to something else.
The vice president and his wife Jill say their son underwent "a successful procedure."
“Yesterday our son Beau underwent a successful procedure. He is in great shape and is going to be discharged tomorrow and heading home to Delaware. He will follow up with his local physicians in the coming weeks,” Biden said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
Snyderman says that successful could mean a range of things.
"I hear no complications," she said.
There was no immediate official word of what type of procedure was performed.
Biden suffered a mild stroke in 2010. Biden became Delaware's attorney general in 2007. He is also an army national guardsman who was deployed to Iraq in 2008.
"Typically one-quarter of those stroke patients have had symptoms before," Snyderman said on NBC Nightly News. "We do know that since his stroke, Beau Biden has had several episodes in the past."
