Cop Who Shot Brown Unaware He Was Robbery Suspect

The officer who fatally shot Michael Brown did not know he was a suspect in the robbery of a nearby convenience store, the Ferguson police chief said Friday. That announcement came soon after authorities released the name of the officer who shot the unarmed teen, nearly a week after his killing first sparked unrest in a St. Louis suburb. Police identified the officer as Darren Wilson, who has been on the job for six years, with no prior record of disciplinary action against him. Police said Wilson was not the officer who responded to the robbery and did not know when he shot Brown that he was a suspect in it, clarifying earlier reports.
