Acre-Sized ‘Valitar' Tent for Sale

Auction will sell off items from "Valitar" horse show

Want to purchase a 45,000 square-foot tent? If so, Tuesday is your chance.

Buyers will have the opportunity to procure some items from the failed acrobatic performance "Valitar" on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Del Mar Fairgrounds. The horse show was canceled at the end of last year because of financial problems, and as a result the owners are selling some of the show’s props.

Items for sale include an assortment of tools, fire extinguishers, office furniture, lights, helmets and the biggest item of all: A 45,000-square-foot tent.

“It’s 200 feet by 225 feet, which is over an acre under a tent,” said Vice President of Fischer Auction Jeff Bloom. “It’s kind of a weird item; you’ve got to find the right buyer to get that.”

The auction will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at at Del Mar Fairgrounds. Anyone can watch the auction for free, but bidders need to pay a $100 fee. See some of the items online or go to the auction at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday for a preview.
