Big Waves Slam San Diego

Time to hit the waves

People who resolved to surf more in 2012 will be happy to know the New Year is welcoming some big waves to San Diego.

A High Surf Advisory is in effect for San Diego beginning this morning and will last through Wednesday afternoon, according to National Weather Service.

NWS warns there will be dangerous rip currents and potentially minor coastal flooding on Tuesday.

On the flip side, surfers will enjoy 9 to 10 ft. waves. The swell is predicted to peak this afternoon.

That wonโ€™t be the end of big surf for San Diegans โ€“ NWS also stated another round of waves is expected for Thursday to Saturday. But this second swell is likely to be much larger.
