Robbery Suspect Allegedly Assaults SDPD Officer in Colina Del Sol: SDPD

A man was taken into custody after allegedly stealing a vehicle, robbing a market, and assaulting a San Diego Police Department officer in Colina Del Sol Saturday afternoon.

The suspect drove to Pola Market on Monroe Avenue in a stolen vehicle, according to SDPD.

Here, the man reportedly demanded money from the market's clerk while holding a stick, police said.

The suspect was given an unknown amount of money before fleeing, according to SDPD.

SDPD then encountered the suspect near the intersection of Euclid Avenue and University Avenue just before 2 p.m. This is roughly two-and-a-half miles away from the market.

During this time, the man allegedly battered an officer and was tased, SDPD said.

The officer involved sustained a minor injury but is OK. The officer was not transported to the hospital.

An ambulance was used to transport the man.

The suspect is described as 20 to 25 years old, just under 6 feet tall, and last seen wearing a dark shirt and baggy pants.
