Water service has been restored to people affected when a water pipe broke and flooding streets in North Park Monday.

The pipe broke near the intersection of Florida Court and Georgia Street at around 5 p.m causing flooding and an interruption in water service for the neighborhood. NBC 7's Mark Mullen has this update from the News at 11.

“We just didn’t believe it was happening,” Linnard said. “Walked over here and saw the ground crack.”

City water crews turned off the water before 6 p.m. The road was badly damaged, and several apartments flooded.

Water officials said the 50-year-old pipe was removed and replaced. Service was restored and Georgia Street was reopened by 2 a.m.

A section of Florida Court was still closed because of street repairs.
