Crews Respond to Vehicle Rescue

Car may have rolled over

California Highway Patrol officers and firefighters responded to a vehicle rescue on Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near state Route 94 in Golden Hill when a woman was trapped inside her car.

Early reports stated the vehicle rolled over up against an overpass support.

"The patient was jammed up in the car against that post," Battalion Chief Ty Shimoguchi said. "We had a hard time getting her out, but we did."

It took nearly 40 minutes to extricate the woman. She was then transported to a nearby hospital.

At least two cats were inside her car as well, but they escaped up a nearby hill as the firefighters worked to rescue the woman.
