Wrong-Way Driver's Truck Rammed by CHP Officer

A wrong-way driver on Interstate 8 was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a patrol officer had to ram her vehicle to get her to stop.

The situation started at about 4:40 p.m. when California Highway Patrol received a call about a slow-moving Ford F-150 on I-8 east of Lake Jennings Park Road, according to a news release from the CHP.

An officer tried to stop the truck, but the driver wouldn’t yield to lights and sirens. Then, the driver made a U-turn and then started driving the wrong way on the right shoulder of the freeway, the news release said.

That’s when the CHP officer intentionally rammed the side of the truck to get it to stop. The impact forced the truck onto the hood of the patrol car.

The driver, 53-year-old Linda Faye Bryans of Lakeside, was arrested on suspicion of several violations, including driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
