San Diego Cat Holds Short Record

San Diego is home to the world's shortest cat

A San Diego cat named Fizz Girl is short, but she stands tall in the record books.

The 2-year-old, 4-pound, 2.3-ounce munchkin cat measures 6 inches from floor to shoulder and is featured in the Guinness World Record 2012 book as the shortest living cat.

Fizz Girl belongs to San Diego resident Tiffani Kjeldergaard, according to Guinness.

A munchkin cat is a special breed that has little legs caused by a naturally occurring genetic mutation.

The previous record was held by a cat named Itse Bitse, who was just 3.75 inches high when measured in 2003. The Himalayan/Siamese mix was owned by a couple in West Monroe, La., but went missing.

Fizz Girl's mother is named Fizz Fuzz and one of her litter mates was named Fizz Bo.
